In the heart of Cebu City, Philippines, Startup Oasis is a co-living concept established to help startup entrepreneurs. It is an environment where the user and developers live and work together, where the customer carries their startup ideas that the developers of the internet and software developers make concrete. One product we could offer our services is through MVP.
For most people, working and traveling mean contrasting things, you simply can’t be at once in two different locations, always one or the other. The travelpreneurs, though, had it all worked out. No matter their place in the world, they have made their corporations prosperous and manageable. And what’s left to do with them? For the travel entrepreneurs currently in Cebu City while waiting for their sunburns to heal, here are a few suggestions we have made:
Learn to cook and eat Filipino food
Have you tried Adobo? Uh, cool! But you know how you’re going to make it? We’ll let Ate do this activity, take you to the market to purchase ingredients, and teach you how to cook her specialty dish. You can even share this with the team from Startup Oasis and boast about how well you cooked their adobo for them!
Camping and hiking
Too long to face that screen? Go to the outdoors to see! Walk to Osmena Peak and rest there for the night. The next day, you can also ride to Kawasan falls and let the cool flow of the river wash away the stiffness from your bones.
Attend a meetup at TechTalk
Hey, it’s still a working journey, so develop your personal and business network. TechTalk meetups are still arranged across the city, so make sure to check it out so you don’t miss something or anybody.
Bring the conference to an artsy degree
In Crossroads, visit Qube Art Gallery and wonder at some of the works of a featured local artist. As Crossroads is packed with great cafes and restaurants, you can have a corporate lunch or coffee around the city. You can also go to A Venue, Cebu’s trendy co-working space, to focus on the results of your meeting.
Spend the day at the FabLab
FabLab is short for Fabrication Laboratory where, outside what is typically inside one laboratory, technological, scientific, financial, educational, and logistical assistance is possible. Visit the one at Cebu UP and see what cool stuff you can do there.
Know how to roast lechon
Lechon is a whole roasted pig that is cooked for at least 4 hours over coal. Yes, this is the ultimate bragging right you can get out of Cebu. They’ve all tried Lechon, and yes, that’s good. Why stop there, though? Invite your entire team to a party with lechon that you helped roast. It’s a great way to bond with your team and get to know them outside of work.
Island hopping
This is actually the reason why you chose to be in Cebu, to see various islands that are paradise-like. There are quite a few options for this, but don’t forget to bring lechon manok (roasted whole chicken), puso (hanging rice), and Red Horse with whatever you choose (popular local beer). Without these, a hop on the Filipino Island is not complete.
Waterfalls chasing
You might already have seen a few islands at this point, and that sunburn looks like it needs a little more time. Check out 3 famous waterfalls: Tumalog Falls in Oslob, Inambakan Falls in Ginatilan, and Dao Falls in Samboan. Take a trip south of Cebu.
Join the club for Toastmasters
In developing leadership and communication, Toastmasters International is a leader. There are a number of clubs in Cebu and you can search for one near you. It’s a good way to meet like-minded people and grow that professional (and most probably personal) circle of yours.
Enjoy a tropical cocktail in a beach resort in Mactan
Your sunburn might have already healed and it’s time for that cocktail by the beach. Lucky you, you don’t have to go any further, just cross the Mactan bridge and choose from an assortment of beach resort there. If you are overwhelmed with choices, Maribago Blue Waters is our favorite.
All these are just some of the many things you can enjoy in Cebu while making your MVP.
