In Startup Oasis, we sat down with the entrepreneurs and developers, and asked them personally about the things they want when it comes to collaborating with startup projects. The following common stuff comes out:
Working with consumers directly
In most industries, the general practice is that the administrators are the ones who interact with the customers and appoint a developer for the task. They report this to the management if the developers have problems, as the management is the one who deals with the user. Can you imagine how time-consuming it is, not to mention the coordination difficulties that could arise?
In Startup Oasis, it is provided to one or two developers to work on directly with the customer when a project is signed up. This suggests that the developers have close contact with the user and vice versa. This removes the time-consuming vertical contact in a large business that needs to be observed. Madz, one of the company’s first employees and who has worked for about 7 campaigns, expressed that she wants to have direct contact with the customer so when she has questions, she gets feedback sooner, adding to it that when there are glitches, they can quickly contact her on the client-side.
Speaking with consumers explicitly helps developers to really get to know the user and what they want to achieve. Often, as information is passed on to a few persons before execution, errors are made. Here, this dilemma is eliminated. “I like to be in direct contact with customers to avoid misunderstanding and for me to deliver what they really want,” Dale, currently working with Locabike (a bike rental app), said. In addition to Dale, Jeff said, “This allows me to discuss with customers properly and allows more time to actually work on what was discussed.”
Wide Working Scope
Big businesses recruit engineers on the basis of their skills, and they are only tasked with focusing with what they suggest. And then does the employee repeatedly work on the same issue that can become tedious in the long run and does not really give them the chance and the space to expand.
In Startup Oasis, he or she is then in charge of designing it along with the client’s oversight until the product is delegated to a developer. They are inspired by this duty to teach themselves new things. Vere, who is currently working on Miri, a proximity-based software offered for booking visitor events in the lobby of hotels, said that “working on the project gave me a wider range of work in all its development aspects, which developed broader skills for me.”
Employees look beyond the box to become more innovative about addressing challenges through a wider field of work. The benefit here for the creator is new talents that they can use later on. “A new language I’ve heard. We get to work on various kinds of projects because it is such a small business. I am now dealing with Android, which is a new app-building language, before I used to work for the Windows app,” says Gerald, who used to work with NiceShoulder2016 for Windows and is currently working with HungryUp, an Android food ordering and delivery app.”
Employees are motivated by office procedures
In a startup community, operating independently is not new, but it is even welcomed. It will be motivating for the worker to allow workers the ability to work individually and can give more outcomes than when they have a lot of policy to obey. Not just that, the higher leadership will then work on other projects and support consumers on their product’s market side.
When asked about the iOS creator, Ramil, he said that he enjoys the fact that when designing an app, they have the ability to select what technologies to use. This is also the same feeling which was shared by Jeff, the graphic designer. He has the ability to work on prototypes and give them to the consumer, and this is good practice for his imagination, he said.
Projects are not only given to anyone; depending on the qualities and skills displayed by the creator, they are given. This way of assigning tasks is like a complement to their skills, according to Joven and Rhea, who are working on the Singapore Medical Community, and motivates them to do their best in any project assigned to them.
“This level of empowerment is demonstrated in what Rhusfer said, “I have the freedom to apply my ideas and solutions to the problems that emerge during development.
Having more input into the kind of office and personnel we will deal with will greatly aid in the decision-making process and even help prevent problems.
